| First Christian Church reaches
out into our community. On the first and third Saturdays of each month,
First Christian Church, Riverside takes it's turn supplying lunch,
distributing coats, clothing and other personal items, along with
a little friendship to those who are less fortunate in our city. Lunch
is served at 12:00 PM at Calvary Presbyterian Church on Magnolia in
Riverside. Sometimes lunch consists of sanwiches - sometimes a hot
lunch is served. |

| On the first Sunday of every
month, we bring extra food for our Food Pantry. The need is greater
than ever with unemployment so high. While we cannot meet any family’s
complete food needs, the extras often can help a family make it through
the week. Here are some suggestions: peanut butter, jelly, pancake
mix that requires only water, pasta, bag of rice, noodles, cans of
tuna or chicken, macaroni & cheese, powdered milk, canned fruit
or vegetables, ramen noodles and some pop top cans of spaghetti or
ravioli. |
Church World Service works with partners to
eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the
world. Together with local churches, they reach out to neighbors in need
near and far--not with a hand out, but a hand up. Around the world, Church
World Service supports sustainable grassroots development, disaster relief,
and refugee assistance, and they educate and advocate on hunger-related
issues. In the U.S., they help communities respond to disasters, resettle
refugees, promote fair national and international policies, and provide
educational resources.
