Water is essential to life and access to it is the right of every human being. Global Ministries knows that the introduction of a modest water pump, or access to a clean water source in an African village, can transform life. Clean water can foster the empowerment of rural women who have to walk miles every day to find a well. Clean water can also help to eradicate the waterborne diseases that claim so many children's lives. Salem UCC in Campbelltown, PA has made a significant difference to the children in one school supported by Global Ministries partner, the Evangelical Church in Lesotho. Their Mission Ministry Committee wanted to do something different for a special mission project, so they challenged the congregation to contemplate for one month their use of water, and how clean water is important to their lives and their children's health. At the same time, members were told about the desperate need for clean water in Lesotho's schools. Each church member was given a cup to take home to fill with coins or papaer monery. The church set a goal of $1500 to help one school. Each week a bulletin board tracked the amount raised by adding bricks to a well wall. Soon, money was raised to enable a school to build its well. By helping to supply safe drinking water to one school, Salem church is helping those children stay in school and get the kind of education that will enable them to better their lives and the lives of ther communities.

Praise God for joyous, generous givers!

You make the difference...
